ART HAPPENINGS
Clackmas High School's Second Annual Fine Arts Festival

An evening of visual and performing arts, created, performed and produced by Clackamas High School students. Between 700-800 community members attended this year's festival. On display was art created by 451 students including examples of painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, ceramics, industrial arts, and the newly published CHS student arts magazine. Two stages in the forum showcased an eight-piece string ensemble and jazz musicians also from Clackamas High. The main stage featured still more musical and theatrical performances. Integrative curricular projects were also displayed, sharing this year's art department collaborative works. Not to be overshadowed, the culinary arts club created delectable fresh pastries enjoyed by all. The festival's primary goal was to involve all of the Clackamas High community in the arts.
Klamath Falls City Schools Art Fair

The Klamath Falls City Schools Art Fair was held from April 23rd thru the 27th at the indoor soccer arena at the Steen Sports Complex. Schools that participated were; Klamath Union High School, Mazama High School, Eagle Ridge High School, Ponderosa Junior High, Conger Elementary, Fairview Elementary, Mills Elementary, Pelican Elementary and Roosevelt Elementary. Well over 1000 pieces of artwork were displayed for the public to view over the four days.
Sparrow Spring Carnival

Mazama High School held a Sparrow Spring Carnival on Thursday April 30th to raise money to help our Sparrow Student with her medical needs. Many organizations and clubs ran booths and games for the community. The Art Club at Mazama ran a photo booth where people could put their heads into a painted Viking, lady Viking and sea monster. They also ran a face painting booth. Our Student Counsel ran a Silent Auction where lots of artwork was sold to help our Sparrow Student. The carnival was a success and there are already plans for running future carnivals.
Art Teacher Group
The Basin Art teachers are still getting together on a regular basis to discuss student artwork, art advocacy and broadening our own scope on our profession. We are hoping to put together an Art Retreat for our group to help us rejuvenate our passion for teaching art this summer. The group includes teachers from; Klamath Union High School, Mazama High School, Henley High School, Ponderosa Junior High, Henley Middle School, Brixner Middle School and various outlying schools and elementary school.
