Youth Art Month

Youth Art Month (YAM) was created in 1961 by the Council for Art Education, Inc as a national advocacy program. It is celebrated annually during the month of March, but highlights art successes that happen throughout the year. The Oregon Art Education Association (OAEA) sponsors the YAM program at the state level.

Youth Art Month Activities:

YAM Flag

Students create a design to be considered for use on the actual 3’x5’ flag used at the NAEA convention. Other designs will be chosen for a variety of uses by OAEA. Designs should visually represent both Oregon and art.

2018 Theme:

 “Building Community Through Art”.

Designs are due by March 3. *specific information about the swap will be emailed separately

ATC Swap

Art Trading Cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are exchanged. Artists create cards in any media that are traded, not sold. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5″ x 3.5″, the same size as other kinds of trading cards.

Have your students create ATCs, send them in, and receive cards from around Oregon in exchange.
Cards are due by March 23. *specific information about the swap will be emailed separately
